Welcome!

Hi, I’m Tavi! Thanks for visiting my website :)

I’m a witch, storyteller, community medicine maker, bodyworker and educator, who has been living in so-called Portland, OR for the past 15 years. I have been making medicine and working with plants directly since 2015, when I began to follow my intuition away from a previous life in the worlds of stand-up comedy and freelance journalism. Herbalism began as an impassioned hobby, and has become central to my life’s work!

I officially started Manatee Medicinals in January 2018 as a channel for my herbal creativity and community resourcing work. I offer high quality, small-batch herbal products, sliding scale herbal peer support sessions, and community education for adults and children age 14 and over. My primary focus is on uplifting BIPOC community members, decolonizing herbal medicine, and making self-care accessible via affordable herbal medicine tools.

Support my work & livelihood by joining my Patreon, for as little as $2/month!

In 2023, I will be taking over (from Corinna Rosella) as the new host of the Rise Up! Good Witch podcast, as well as the related Patreon platform, which will soon offer a variety of monthly tiers containing my own work.

I am so excited to share more of my writing, art, herbal community work, and education with a broader community of people! Thanks so much for your support and patience while we move through this exciting and unique transition!

About Me

I’m from a multiracial lineage of Black, Indigenous, and Jewish ancestry, from the Southern Midwest of the US, where I grew up in Cincinnati OH. I am a leftist, Queer, disabled, neurodivergent, gender non-conforming lightskinned Black femme who lives with persistent chronic illness at the intersection of all these identities. These sacred identities form my experiences in this world, and therefore are also the very core of what, where, when, how and for whomst, I make medicine.

I live with my wonderful partner Sasha, and our little family of two goofy chihuahua mixes and a magical tiny calico cat. In addition to my herbal pursuits, I love cooking, audiobooks, long herb baths, crafts, DIY interior design (and vintage furniture repair!), and exploring low-impact nature areas in and around Portland.

Despite all my worst lived experiences and best efforts, I do still enjoy stand-up comedy.
