Fresh Dual-Extraction Reishi Mushroom Tincture (2 oz)
Behold! My first-ever mushroom based medicine. I met this beautiful mushroom friend deep in a forest on the Oregon Coast, and I felt called to take them home with me and venture into a dual-extraction project. In a normal plant tincture, you typically macerate (steep) the plant in a single menstruum base, like alcohol or water. But reishi is special because they are a polypore mushroom, which means they are thick, woody on the outside, take quite a long time to grow, and have certain properties (like polysaccharides) that can only be extracted in hot water, and some that can be extracted better in alcohol (triterpenoids). So this final product is a combination of an alcohol extraction and a water decoction—for the most beneficial healing power!
Traditionally known as “spirit mushroom” or “the mushroom of immortality”, Reishi (ganoderma lucidii, or ling zhi) is an ancient, magical and deep plantcestor whose wide-ranging benefits have been utilized for over 2,000 years. It is one of the more commonly studied and proven supports for cancer research and immune system enhancing. As an immune system and adaptogenic tonic, reishi acts as an immunomodulator: a substance that can either increase or decrease immune system activity depending on what is needed by the body to create balance.
It also seems to be widely beneficial for the rest of the body, and has a long history of use to promote health and longevity in Traditional Chinese Medicine: for nurturing the heart and pacifying the spirit, relaxing spasms, and tonifying the kidneys, lungs, and heart.
It is used alone or in formulas for general debility and weakness, dizziness, insomnia, hypertension, allergies, bronchitis and asthma, and in liver diseases such as hepatitis. It may be supportive for chronic systemic disease such as CFS/ME, post-viral malaise, long covid and other similar conditions. It is often experienced as an immediate grounding and soothing effect.
These tonic benefits will be most successful if used daily for an ongoing period of time. Reishi is generally safe, although Patients on anti-coagulant medication should be monitored due to G.lucidum’s actions in this area. Please consult your doctor if you are in treatment for active cancer before use.
Herbal actions: antiviral, heart tonic, immune system tonic+immunomodulator, nervine, trophorestorative (restorative to the nervous system), hepatoprotective, inhibits histamine release
Ingredients: 80pf vodka, filtered water, fresh reishi in a 2oz dropper bottle
